Upcoming Events

Hope Springs Eternal
Women’s Luncheon

April 14, 2012, 10:30 a.m.
GCC Community Center

Mark your calendars and make plans to attend Hope Springs Eternal, an event sponsored by Women’s Ministry to feed and nurture the body and soul.  We will begin with a no-host coffee fellowship at 10:30, featuring the GCC Coffee Cart Baristas brewing up your favorite drinks, followed by an inspiring talk by Pat Elmore at 11:00, and then conclude with conversation and a soup and salad luncheon, prepared by the Two Girls Catering Company of Gladstone.
Our featured speaker is Pat Elmore, an ordinary woman with an extraordinary story of God’s hope and redemption.  In December 2002, Pat’s pregnant daughter and three children were murdered at the hands of her son-in-law in the Tillamook State Forest.  This highly publicized story brought Pat into the limelight where she testified to the hope and healing that only God could provide.  Pat has worked tirelessly on the Parents of Murdered Children Memorial in Oregon City and has compassionately come alongside others who have faced similar atrocities.  She has chosen to wear a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair (Isaiah 61:3), blessing all who cross her path.  Pat will share the lessons of hope and forgiveness that God is teaching her as she daily surrenders her pain to Him.
Tickets for this event will go on sale in March and will be $15/person.  Be praying about who you might invite to join you for this girl’s getaway only minutes away from your front door!

Fit 4 Him

How are those New Year’s Resolutions going?  If you are like most of us, it’s hard to make the lifestyle changes we want. Life gets in the way, we are stuck in our old habits and change seems difficult, if not impossible. It’s hard enough to have time for all of the responsibilities of daily life, and the thought of adding exercise, eating right, having a regular devotion/quiet time, being available for ministry opportunities, truly “ABIDING” in Christ as our “Jesus Experiment” is encouraging, all takes time and conscious effort, and can be enough to push any sane woman over the edge!
You are not alone! Watch for fliers and information in mailboxes and on the Fit 4 Him board in the main floor ladies restroom.  Fit 4 Him is a chance for semi-public accountability and encouragement among the women of Gladstone Christian Church. No matter what your age, what your health level, or what your goal is…this is a chance for you to make change happen alongside other women facing the same core issues you are.
“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

Getting Unstuck

A Seminar for Women  @ George Fox University
Saturday, March 17, 2012
9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

There are times in life when we feel stuck physically, emotionally, spiritually, professionally and even relationally.  This seminar will help us recognize the traps that paralyze us in helplessness and open our eyes to the spiritual renewal and freedom that is waiting for us through the Word of God and His Holy Spirit. Keynote speaker is Elisa Morgan, president of Mission: Momentum, who is passionate about mobilizing women to invest their influence in God’s purposes.

This full day seminar consists of worship, speaking sessions, small interest groups, a coffee break and lunch for $38/person if registered by February 15 (prices go up after that date).  Pick up a Selah booklet on the information table in the foyer or visit selah.georgefox.edu.
