Our Seniors (we like to refer to them as 'Seasoned Saints') meet weekly on Wednesdays from September-May. Activities begin promptly at 11:00 a.m. in our Community Center on the main level, with the exception of Bible study day. Please plan to arrive prior to that time so you won't miss any of our activities and invite someone to share this special time with you. Occasional local trips are also scheduled throughout the year.
Come and join each Wednesday at 11:00 a.m.
February 1 Chef’s Choice
Today Al Dorsey and his son from Tae Kwon Do 2 on McLoughlin Blvd. will join us and demonstrate some pointers on self defense for seniors. Several of our church members have taken instruction from him and they speak very highly of him. Al has also taught self defense measures to local police and sheriff departments, as well as several groups from Milwaukie High School, and he is looking forward to sharing his knowledge and techniques with our senior group. Afterwards we will enjoy a light lunch prepared by Jan & Elli. The cost is just one dollar.
February 8 Bible Study
Lavonne Stewart will lead the women’s study on “Revelation”. Jim Lawrence has been leading the men’s Bible study using Rick Reimer’s book “Dressed to Kill”. However Jim and Dixie may not be back in time from a scheduled vacation trip so a guest instructor may teach this class. I wonder who it is? Following Bible study we will enjoy a lunch of sandwiches and dessert.
February 15 Soup-R-Wednesday
Judy Meyer from Providence Willamette Falls Hospice will be our speaker today. She will show several short DVD’s along with her presentation and then will be available to answer questions from the group. Many of us have had family members or friends that have been served by hospice personnel and it is always good to keep ourselves current on what they do and don’t provide. A light lunch will be available afterwards as we share a time of fellowship.
February 22 Potluck
David Davolt, Director of Development for Boise Bible College, will be with us this morning at the invitation of Hal and Ken. Over the years Gladstone Christian Church and churches throughout Oregon and Washington have had individuals each spring who have responded to the call to assist with various projects on the schools campus in exchange for free room and board. Various proposals are being studied to insure that individuals are available to continue this effort in the years ahead. This morning we look at this as an opportunity to share with you what has been accomplished in previous years, what’s on the agenda for this year, and what steps need to be taken now and in the future to sustain this effort. It’s also “Potluck Wednesday” so we can then enjoy our members’ potluck dishes.
February 29 5th Wednesday Field Trip
We will leave the church at 10:30 a.m. for a trip to Portland’s Old Church in southwest Portland where we will enjoy a sack lunch and concert. This is a trip you don’t want to miss so get your name early on the sign-up sheet. The cost is $5.00.
As always, if you need transportation,
please call the Church Office at 503-656-3394.
